Kit an’ Kin’s debut market spice
Ovayard Nutmeg comes from the lush, verdant hills of Salisbury Heights, St. Andrew, Jamaica, harvested from one singular nutmeg tree.
The tree was planted more than 30 years ago by Miss Punsy, a beloved member of the community and higgler who cultivated and sold her produce. Over the decades, it has given fruit—and countless hours of cool shade beneath the hot Jamaican sun. As new stewards of the land, we’re honored to share a little piece of its harvest with you.
Our nutmeg is fully tree-ripened and naturally sun-dried, allowing the seed to develop its warm, sweet and deeply aromatic character. Kept whole until you're ready to use it, each fresh grate releases the nutmeg's fragrant natural oils—the source of so much of its unmistakable aroma and flavor.
Grate it fresh into coffee, porridge, hot chocolate, rum punch and cocktails, or use it to bring warmth to cakes, custards, sweet potato, pumpkin, creamy sauces and savory dishes. A little goes a long way.
Each nutmeg gift set comes with 3 whole nutmegs and 1 grater.
For Chef Anya, nutmeg is also a taste of home. Her father grates a little into his coffee every morning, and she grew up with one of those tiny metal graters hanging in the family pantry.
Now you have one, too!
